Spec-Match Rate

Spec-Match Rate measures the conformance of live, shipped assets to the approved brand tokens, templates, and specifications defined in the Brand Master Book. It answers a simple question: does what shipped match what was approved?

The metric is calculated by sampling 30-60 assets per quarter across all active channels — web, social, print, decks, packaging, signage — and scoring each against the approved specifications. Deviations in color, typography, layout, messaging hierarchy, or component usage reduce the score.

A Spec-Match rate of 90% or above is required for Quality Mark eligibility. Below 80%, TISSA recommends a governance reset: retraining, vendor re-onboarding, and a review of the approval process to identify where deviations are entering the pipeline.

Why it matters

High Spec-Match means the system is working — teams and vendors are executing against the standard without constant oversight. Low Spec-Match signals a governance failure: either the specs are unclear, the training is insufficient, or the approval process has gaps. It is the most direct measure of brand operational health.
